The Research Centre can help you identify funding sources for your research and help you through the application process. We also help you manage your funding once you receive it.

Finding research funding

Whether you’re a faculty member or a graduate student, we can help you find internal and external funding opportunities.

Applying for research funding

Once you have found a funding opportunity that interests you, we can help you complete your application. Please note that all funding applications must be submitted through the AU Research Portal.

For a complete view of the funding process from application to final report, please see our Funding Process page.

External funding applications

The Research Centre offers extensive support to researchers applying for external funding. We:

  • help faculty and staff develop applications through a mentorship program
  • provide pre-submission feedback on graduate student applications
  • provide information on writing successful proposals, often agency-specific
  • liaise between researchers and funding agencies
  • provide support for using the Research Portal

Managing research funding

When you have been successful in a funding competition, we can help you manage your research funds. We will:

  • set up accounts
  • assist with the hiring of research assistants, postdoctoral fellows, interns
  • review and process expense claims and invoices
  • complete purchases for equipment/supplies
  • review research contracts/agreements and liaise with the Contracts Office on your behalf
  • ensure terms and conditions of awards are met
  • provide ongoing award administration
